Farm Sketch

"Farm sketch" 5" x 7"

I haven't posted artwork in a while and felt I should post this little sketch. Had some fun using a ballpoint pen little and painterly. Would like to use this approach on a fully rendered drawing. This was from my imagination, next time I will use a photo. Just having fun!

"An Indiana Road" In Watercolor

"An Indiana Road"

I may add ink to this. I am also planning to take another stab at it.

After viewing this on my blog I decided to crop it a bit, and was amazed with how it affected the composition and overall feel of the piece.

"An Indiana Road"

"An Indiana Road"
Pen and Ink
5" x 7"

Inspired by a photo a friend took near Park County. Thank you Mindy McCutchan!
I am also currently painting this scene in watercolor.

One thing I am noticing while posting these drawings is that when you upload, Blogspot's compression creates some ugly areas in the images. Very annoying. You can see this around the telephone wires...this is not an issue with the original image before being uploaded.

Drawing in progress

Thought I would post a pen and ink drawing that is in progress. I am using a picture I took while fishing. We ran across this huge tree, and it's limbs reached out all the way to the banks almost. It was obvious to me that I needed to draw it at some point so I took a picture. I will update this asap.

Here is another oil painting I finished a few weeks back. I used a picture I took while driving with my wife a few years ago. Always enjoy taking country drives and stopping to take some pics along the way.

Finally posting new paintings. I painted this painting referencing a picture I took while fly fishing with some friends last year. This Redbud on the bank is always showing off in the spring. Love it!

New paintings to come! and a dose of inspiration.

I finally got my oils out and worked on two pieces last weekend. They are almost finished, and will be posted as soon as they are. Felt great to put the brush to the canvas again!

On another note...My wife and I visited the Sugar Creek Art Center, Thorntown, IN. last Friday.
An artist named Heidi Harner was featured...and let me tell you, I truly enjoyed her work. So much so that we purchased one of her paintings. What stood out to me was her paintings of horses. She is able to capture the moment like few I have seen before. Her layering also helps the paintings truly breath. She has very beautiful Plein Air Landscapes as well. I definitely look forward to seeing more work of hers in the future!

Check her work out!

You can find her on Facebook as well. She is always posting new work and updates.
