I have had this photo for a while now and was hoping to paint it at some point. Until then I just finished it in Pen-n-ink. Nice little drawing :)

Finally a post .
It has been a while since I last posted new work. So here we are.
This painting was inspired by a tree that a friend and I came across while fishing the creeks last spring. Enormous tree, and very old looking...I loved it :) So I painted it! I did post a couple early progress pictures of this painting a while back.

Preparing for my first Gallery!
Some good news this week, I will be showing my work at the "First Friday" gallery (at the IMC, Indianapolis metro Church) in October. This gallery is right on Mass Ave, downtown Indianapolis!
SO .. to say the least I am very very excited :) At this time I am preparing for the gallery. I plan on completing at least Five paintings by October. I have recently finished a few small paintings which I will post very soon. As I move along I will continue to give updates here. Can't wait!
Thanks Dan!
Also on the horizon is the Sugar Creek Art Gallery. I will be a featured artist there for June of 2009! Opportunities arise :)

That lonely slender tree
The other evening my wife, my mother-n-law and I took a nice drive into the country.
It was a perfect evening, nice and cool, and the lightning bugs were out in full force by the end of the night. Anyways, we stopped a few times to take pictures of the fields and horizon and I loved the look of this lonely slender tree over a wheat field. so decided to sketch it quickly by memory today.

Tree in progress....and knowing when to stop.
Upon Vince's request (friend here at work) I decided to scan and post this sketch before I
"finish". Why??? because Vince and I had a conversation the other day about knowing when to stop with a painting, drawing, etc. He thought it was a good time to stop, and he liked how the pen fully rendered looked in contrast to the sketchy pencil. I can't exactly call this finished though...I "need" to finish it with pen...fully rendered. Sooo this is for Vince...raise your glasses! to Vince!
I will continue to post this image as I move along :)

Stone Bridge In Progress
This painting is straight from a photo I took while camping and fishing on Sugar Creek a few weeks back. I thought it would be nice to begin an "In Progress" post again. At this point I have blocked out my composition, basic colors, and some dark and lights.

Their Guiding Light
I needed to paint something new last night and used a picture from a recent weekend of camping. The light that was coming through the trees that early morning was amazing...I needed to paint it. I used lose brush strokes...yet with a touch of pointillism, and I had a blast. I am excited where this style is taking me :)

Through the woods
So it's been a while since I have posted anything, and I am excited to get the ball rolling again.
Two days ago I went back to my painting of the trees and touch it up a bit. Adding highlights, and little details to the trees I think its at a great place now and am about to call it finished. All I need to do now is add buds to the two little trees in the foreground. I am pleased with this piece, as it is the first large scale painting I have attempted.

19:13 Him and us.
Here is another addition to my series.
It is a bit darker but there is a message that overcomes the darkness.
This piece reflects my faith and the world it overcomes.
The Willow in focus is Christ, and the trees behind him are his disciples,
and saints. Revelation 19:13 is my inspiration for this piece. As I was creating
this I was also thinking of those around the world who have suffered 0r died for
professing his name...their persecution for being a Christ follower.
